Family, Food and Wind

We've been at Green Acre Park in Waterloo, Ontario for a couple of weeks now. Sorry I haven't updated in awhile. Too busy spending time with family and eating. Lots of eating. There are many country restaurants in the area and apparently we are going to try them all.

Easter Sunday was spent at my brother Wayne and sister in law Daniela's home.  We had a fantastic feast.  Seven vegetables, salad, pasta, ham, prime rib  with 2 kinds of cake for dessert.  Unbelievably good.

Green Acre Park is very close to St. Jacobs. St. Jacobs is in the heart of Mennonite country. It has a market on Thursdays and Saturdays. We went and bought some meat, vegetables and flowers. I love going to the market.

This is an agricultural area. Many family farms and country roads. We are exploring many of the back roads. Wayne complains that we never go the same way twice in a row. Oh well, variety is the spice of life.

Although we have enjoyed spending time with family, we haven't been outdoors very much.  The weather has been cool, rainy and extremely windy.  To the point of being scary.  We have also had thunder, lightning and a tornado less than 30 km away.

Yesterday was a beautiful day.  We visited my cousins Terri and David at their cottage at Belwood Lake.  Brett, Emily and Madison were also at the cottage.  We had a great day.

During the past week or so, we have been catching up on repairs and chores.  We repaired the dining area blind and Wayne replaced our ceiling fan.  A weld holding a light fixture to the fan broke while we were travelling.  I like the new fan better than the old.  We are still waiting for good weather to have the outside repairs done.  Maybe tomorrow will be the day.

Wayne and I went to see the doctor.  That morning we had a major thunderstorm with strong winds.  A tree was down closing one of the roads.  We had to backtrack.  The truck skidded on the wet road.  We were late and had to run several blocks in the wind and rain.  We went in the wrong door and had to climb 3 flights of stairs.  Then my blood pressure reading was high.  I have to go back next week for another check and possibly medication.

Kathy, my sister, set off yesterday for the adventure of a lifetime.  She has gone to China.  On her birthday, May 4th, Kathy will be walking the Great Wall of China.  Does it get any better?  Have a great time Kate.

More family news:  Ian and Amy have set a date -  Feb 8th, 2012 in Varadero, Cuba.  Whoo hoo!  Where's my bikini? lol

  1. Hi Kim. I love reading your blog and I was really excited to see the Easter pictures at my house. We're all excited about the wedding. I'm glad they went with a destination wedding.
