The Shingles Are On

Hooray!

The shed roof is shingled. Took us all day but it's done. Wayne has started to organize the shelves and stuff. The loft will add greatly to his storage space.
He's a happy camper.

The sky's getting dark. I think it's going to rain. Good test of our roofing skills.

Out on the Lake

Monday afternoon we decided to play hookie from building the shed and went for a boat ride. It was an absolutely gorgeous day on the lake. Nice and calm, sun shining and a gentle breeze. With a full tank of gas, we decided to venture onto Big Doe Lake and look for the Girl Guide Camp. Megan (a young friend of ours) is soon going to camp. We wondered exactly where it was. After asking directions from some people lounging on a dock, we found the camp. It looks very nice and I'm sure Megan will have a good time.

Grey clouds began to develop so we headed back to Little Doe Lake. On the way back to our dock, Wayne noticed a boat with a tuber behind dead in the water. We went closer and the driver, a grandfather with his three grandkids (2 in boat, 1 in tube) said that he flooded the motor. He was trying to paddle back to the dock with little success. We tossed him a rope and towed them about 4 cottages up to their dock. We looked pretty funny. Our 14 ft aluminum fishing boat with a 15 horse motor, towing a speedboat complete with tuber. Quite the convoy.

Today Wayne caulked all the seams on the shed and is now in the gazebo sleeping. I cleaned and vacuumed the trailer. Just about time to make spaghetti and meatballs for supper.

As soon as I find camera, I will post some pictures.

Excitement at Chez Hollingshead

Perched on the ladder behind the almost completed shed, all I hear is a loud buzzing drone and Wayne yelling, "Get in the trailer. Now!" Thousands of bees or wasps were swarming in the pine tree beside our deck. It was one of the scariest things I've seen.

We think that we startled the bees while putting a big blue tarp over the shed. Wayne stood on the roof and perhaps got too close to the hive. Neighbours down the street could hear the buzzing. I thought a rerun of the World Cup Soccer was on a tv somewhere.

Ten minutes later all was calm. Wayne thinks there is a nest near the top of the pine tree. He sort of saw it with his binoculars. Must be about 30 feet in the air. Hopefully they stay there.
