More Friends and Family

Close friends, Janet and Terry spent 3 fun filled days with us last week.  We met Janet and Terry in Nanaimo.  They have been our next door neighbours for the last two winter seasons.  But not this year.  We are heading to Texas and our friends are remaining in Ontario.

We spent one morning touring a local curiosity.  The Screaming Heads.  So very weird and interesting.

Shades of Home Alone?
Last weekend  we headed to Guelph for a surprise party.  Daniela (our sister in law) turned 50.  Good party and a great weekend.  We also had a quick trip to Burlington - IKEA and a bead shop.  Wayne enjoyed IKEA but napped while Kathy and I shopped at Beadazzled.  Lots of fun.

Yesterday, we went to storage in North Bay.  Time to switch our summer and winter gear.  Soon we will be heading south.  Lots of work to do first, though.  Anyhow while in North Bay we took time to socialize.  First we had lunch with old friends Gail and Andy.  They are newly retired and still getting into the swing of a leisurely lifestyle. lol  After that we met cousin Jackie for tea and conversation.  Another great day in a busy week.

I think this is the third time this summer we have had our picture taken at Burger World.  It's a North Bay favourite.

Kathy Visits and An Early Halloween

Do You Know What This Is?
Kathy came to visit over the Labour Day Weekend. We had a very laid back few days. Beading, shopping, eating and celebrating Halloween. Because Doe Lake Rizzort closes for the season before Halloween, we always celebrate it early.

Kathy opted to sleep in her own space this visit. We have a bed in a bag inside this little tent. Wayne could hear both of us snoring at the same time. Me beside him and Kate through the window. lol

So did you figure out what the first picture was?  A big pile of bear scat.  We apparently have a resident bear in the park - possibly more than one.  This gift was only about 100 yards down the road from our site.  Glad we didn't meet the creature.

Wayne's Woodworking Project

Thanks to Ian and Amy, we have joined the 21st century. We now own a flat screen tv. It's 32 inches and doesn't quite fit in the existing cabinet. So Wayne moved out of his comfort zone and made a cabinet door complete with tv mount.
Cabinet after old tv removed

5/8 inch plywood, finished on both sides

Adjusting fit of door

Screwing piano hinge to door
Hinge attached to cabinet

Levelling mount for tv

Added hole to route cables

Cables routed through door
Door painted, locks installed and another hole added for easy routing of power cable

Finished project

Lots of storage inside
Great job, Wayne!
