Family, Friends and Field Trips

Well I'm feeling a bit better.  My pulled muscle is slowly improving.  It still hurts at night and rolling over in bed is quite painful.  But overall getting better.

We've been busy.  Wayne's cousin Jackie and her sister in law, Debbie came camping last week.  Even though the weather wasn't the best (lots of rain) we had fun.  Highlights of the visit included shopping, an afternoon at the Legion and lots of delicious meals.

The Legion held a Meat Roll.  It's kind of a combination of bingo and a raffle.  We went and I won one of the prizes.  Hamburgs, rolls and fries.

On Monday, right after Jackie and Debbie went home, Nancy and Adelmo arrived.  We had a great visit checking out Cuba pictures and reminiscing.  But forgot to take any new photos.  Hopefully we'll see them again soon.

Wednesday, Wayne and I headed to Guelph.  We went to celebrate Mom's birthday.  Better late than never.

We went to Adonia for the birthday.  Every one's meal was delicious and reasonably priced.  Happy Birthday Mom!

Dad made us a new addition to our carvings.  Meet Spike the Cat Fish.

We got a new tv recently.  Our next project is to build a cupboard door to mount the tv to.  That will leave lots of space for storage behind the door.
Thanks Ian and Amy
Well that concludes a busy couple of weeks.  I am so tired and my bed is beckoning.  Good night.

Not All Fun and Games

What a weird week this has been.

It started off well.  Wayne and I decided to join the Royal Canadian Legion.  We've been thinking about it for quite awhile, deciding that we should join Branch 405 in Burks Falls.  Since we spend about 5 months a year here it was a logical choice.  Saturday afternoon was our initiation ceremony.

Because of the ongoing drought conditions, my flower gardens have been struggling.  By last weekend my water barrel had run dry and the park's portable tanks were out of commission.  So we resorted to filling 5 gallon Jerry cans at the front office.  So far so good.  However, as I tried to get out of the truck, I fell into Nancy's garden.  Very gently, I might add.  I thought it was no big deal - just a couple of prickles in my palm and a slight twinge in my side.  But by Wednesday evening, I couldn't take a deep breath and was unable to find a comfortable position because my side was so painful.

Bright and early Thursday morning, Wayne took me into the emergency department at the Huntsville Hospital.  They xrayed my ribs, checked my blood and I then waited for 7 hours to have an ultrasound to check for spleen damage.  Everything looked normal.  So long story short, after 9 hours, I was diagnosed with a pulled muscle and sent home with some pain killers.  I feel much better this morning as I was able to have a good drug induced sleep last night.

We were supposed to drive to Guelph yesterday to celebrate Mom's birthday.  That's not happening as I can't sit in the truck for that long.  Sorry Mom, we'll try again later.

Finally rain has arrived.  It drizzled all day yesterday and is continuing today and for several days to come.  Yeah!!

I think I will do some sewing, cross stitching or beading.  All good rainy day pursuits.

Spending Time With Family

Last weekend, Matthew, Jovana and Amanda visited. We lazed around at the beach, went for a boat ride and did lots of eating. Very relaxed and low key. Matt and Jovana slept in the tent. I should have taken a picture of it set up with the blow up bed. The bed filled the tent. Great weekend with great weather.

Ian and Amy arrived in Ontario. They spent the weekend at Shannon's home (Amy's sister) bonding with Will and Kendra (nephew and niece) The kids are so cute.

Guelph was Monday's destination. My mom and dad hosted a celebration dinner with wedding pictures and video.

Then on Tuesday they headed to North Bay where we joined them to spend Mom and Dad time. We all stayed at Amy's parents. Thanks Bob and Donna for your wonderful hospitality. We had a great time.

Having our picture taken while sharing a meal at Burger World is becoming a tradition.  I think we were in a different booth this time.  lol

We had a delicious dinner at a new North Bay restaurant - RavenRepublic.  It was fabulous.  We were wined, dined and thoroughly spoiled.  Thank you Amy and Ian.

Today Ian and Amy are heading to Christian Island to participate in  the wedding of  friends Jeff and Lauren.  After that it's on to Toronto for brother bonding and then back to Vancouver.  Its been a whirlwind trip.  Certainly not relaxing - but lots of family and friends.  Love you guys.
