From Drought to Rainy Forest

Andy and Gail
Andy and Gail were our first Doe Lake visitors for the 2012 season.  Who will be next?

It was Andy's birthday and they were on their way to Barrie for a day of shopping and stock car races.  Hope it was a great day, guys.  Andy and Gail are counting down to their retirement which is coming up soon.  They have sold their house and are moving to their new home at the lake.  Congratulations!  Can't wait to visit.

This week was busy with trips to town for appointments.  I have started physio to deal with a nagging problem from an incident several years ago.  This means three trips to Huntsville per week for awhile.  In addition we both had dental appointments in North Bay.  Wayne has to go back again next week.  Good thing we're retired and have time for all this running around.

While in North Bay, we met Peggy for lunch.  It was great to catch up and show each other pictures.  Peggy had pics of grandchildren and we showed ours of  Ian and Amy's wedding and Cuba.

Speaking of Ian and Amy, I'm cross stitching a wedding sampler for them.  Almost done but I needed one more skein of thread to finish.  My usual supply in North Bay was closed for vacation. I found a lady on Kijiji who was trying to organize a club for North  Bay.  I contacted her to see if there was another local source for floss.  She checked her stash and gave me the floss I needed to complete my project.  So nice to do that for a complete stranger.  Thank you, Sharon Anne.
Why Is Wayne Praying?
Could it be for rain?  If so, his prayers have been answered.  We have a had a constant gentle rain for the past three days and its supposed to continue for the next week.  We have been under a total fire ban and forest fires have been raging in the north complete with emergency evacuations.  Thank you for the rain.  It has calmed conditions down immensely.

On the gardening front, I have been battling with raccoons.  They have emptied my bird seed feeders, dug up my garden and knocked down my hummingbird feeders.  I've given up for a few days until the rain stops and hopefully the varmints move on and forget about us.

We have yet to get out for a boat ride.  With so many appointments and now the rain it hasn't worked out.  Soon, I hope.

Well that's our week in a nutshell.  Life is good.
