Spring 2013 - Day 1 - Victoria, Texas

We are on our way home.  Today we travelled 372 kms arriving at Victoria KOA at about 3 pm.

Would have been here earlier except for a weird accident about 50 miles before our destination.  At Beeville a large home was being moved on a flatbed truck.  Somehow, it got caught up in the traffic lights at the town's major intersection.  We were held up for about 20 minutes - eventually being rerouted through a gas station parking lot.  Total chaos.

Firemen had to climb on top of the building to untangle it from the lights.  Between the cost of repairs to the lights and manpower costs for the many police and firemen at the scene, I figure thousands of dollars were wasted.

No pictures.  Sorry.  I charged my battery last night and forgot to put it back in the camera.  Senior moment.

We first stayed at this KOA last fall.  This park is brand new only opening mid October 2012.  At that time, a herd of deer visited each afternoon at about 5 pm.  No sign of them today.  There are a lot more campers here now.  Perhaps the deer have decided to move away from us humans.

Tomorrow, we travel through Houston on our way to Lufkin.  I think that Houston is the largest city we pass through on this trip.  As most of you know, I'm not a big fan of big city roads.  Traffic should be better on the weekend than a weekday.  At least that's what I keep telling myself.
